English, Pork Chop, Bath

A pork chop, that I cooked for dinner. Braised in some leftover gravy from the day before. Cooked but juicy, and not overcooked.

English, or rather, The Adventure of English. Written by Melvyn Bragg, and read by Robert Powell. I am always torn between printed books and audio books, but this is one of those occasions when the audio book is a distinct advantage as Mr Powell reads out phrases in Old and Middle English, the pronunciation I could only guess at, if I were reading it instead.

I don’t often take a bath. No, seriously, I usually shower. On a cold day though, it’s nice to soak for a while in a nice hot bath. It’s relaxing, in the same way that a shower is invigorating.

It might sound an extravagance but I really enjoy the super thin roast beef from the supermarket deli. It’s expensive I guess, but still a lot less than buying ready made subs.

Relaxing in the bath. I can’t do much else while I am in there!

Listening, yes listening, to Abbot and Costello. Always good for a laugh. Timeless.

A most enjoyable morning was spent taking photographs, as part of the World Wide Photo Walk. Some great shots were taken, and I’ve got the task of checking them out, and re-touching when necessary.

At Laura Alberts the food  and beer is of excellent quality. One of my favorite appetizers are their Cornmeal Oysters, and I didn’t miss the opportunity to have some today at lunchtime.

After 3 hours in the sun, and that wonderful lunch, with a couple of craft beers, left me feeling a little weary, it was great to have a soak in the bat h tub for a while when I got home.
